How to maximize the sales of your 3D models on PixelPort.com

We are extremely happy that you visited PixelPort.com. We are building a leading 3D marketplace for technical 3D models, and hope you will help us achieve our goal and in the same time earn some additional money.

An easy way to earn money on your 3D models is to begin selling them at PixelPort.com. Nevertheless, before you start selling your models we have some tips that can help you maximize your potential sales.

Remember one of the main reason customers buy 3D models is to save time and money. They do not have time to model the 3D model themselves, so they buy your 3D models.

Here are 10 great tips how to maximize your sales on PixelPort.com.

1. Show the construction of your 3D models

Like all other advertising it is important to have sharp and great looking renders of your 3D models. Of course, use the best render as the main selling picture, and do not use plugins, but let the customer see the real thing. We also recommend rendering several different angles of your 3D models. From 6 – 12 to 24 pictures are great, and do remember to include some wire frame pictures that shows the mesh quality of your 3D models.

2. Use of plugins

Many of our customers do not have 3rd party renderers or other plugins. Create a version of your excellent 3D models that these customers can use. Again, don’t use plugins to generate your sales pictures. Happy customers — more sales.

3. Camera and lights

Leave the cameras and lights in the scene. This can help the customers setting up a great render.

4. Writing the descriptions of your 3D models

Be correct in your descriptions of your 3D models. If your renders include elements that are not in the 3D models, please state this in your description. This make it easier for the customer to make a purchasing decision and he/her will not be disappointed when buying your models. Write a text that are descriptive, include words that are relevant for your models. When you write the text, consider what the customer need to know to make a purchasing decision. Include basis information about your model, object construction, textures, light and camera and so on. This information also makes your 3D models easier to search for on PixelPort.com

5. List polygon and vertex counts of your 3D models

Render time is of great importance for everybody that works with 3D models. It is therefore important to fill in information about polygon- and vertex-count when you upload your 3D models.

6. And then it was the pricing

Price and quality are often close together, so do not sell your 3D models too cheap. Look at similar 3D models that other 3D artist are selling to find a reasonable pricing for your 3D models. If the model is way too expensive you probably sell it fewer times, if the price is reasonable you can sell it several more times and earn more money.

7. Additional file formats

If your 3D models are available in several formats it will greatly improve your sales. However, it is important that the different formats work, so the customer do not buy non-working 3D models. Disappointed customers, lower sales and the 3D models are returned.

8. Package the models and the texture for download

Package your 3D models in appropriately named ZIP files for each of the different formats. If the textures are large, you can make a separate ZIP file for them. Remember that you must have the rights to the different bitmaps so you do not sell something you legally don’t own.

9. Then you can publish your models

You are then ready to publish your 3D models for sale, but please use some time to check the following before publishing. Read your description and check that the spelling of words are correctly. Make sure there is now errors when opening the 3D models, and check that the models can be un-ZIPPED correctly. Then PUBLISH your models and start earning money!!

10. How you can improve the marketing of your 3D models

When you have published your 3D models you can tell the world about it. We suggest that you share the links of your models in Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, blogs and so on. The more people that know about your 3D models the better, it helps selling your models and it helps us at Pixelport.com building a great marketplace for technical 3D models.
